Message from Principal Eduardo Navidad

Navidad’s journey to Alice Smith spans two continents, multiple states, and more than 16 years in the field of education at all levels. He has eight years of administrative experience, most recently serving as an elementary school principal. 

“Mr. Navidad is a dynamic, passionate, and student-centered leader,” said Stephanie Herrera, director of principal leadership for Hopkins Public Schools. “Eduardo is energized by building relationships and leading for equity. He embodies authentic inclusivity so that all students feel connected and can reach their full potential. We are fortunate to have a vibrant and driven leader who will link arms with the entire Alice Smith community!”

Navidad describes his leadership style as energetic, positive, and collaborative. He believes strongly in teachers and their ability to build trusting and caring relationships with students. These relationships are the cornerstone to classroom engagement and challenging instruction. Navidad is fluent in Spanish and has extensive experience supporting and leading diverse school cultures.

Prior to joining Hopkins, Navidad served as principal of Lowertown Elementary in the Waconia Area Public Schools district and as an assistant principal for Mankato Public Schools at Mankato East High School. In 2015, he served as director of continuous improvement and accountability for Eden Prairie Schools. He also was an assistant principal for Centennial Elementary School in Colorado and a sixth-grade math and science teacher in Wisconsin and Colorado. 

Navidad and his wife reside in Carver county with their three young children. In his free time he enjoys cycling, hiking, reading, cooking, and exploring state parks with his family.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
  • Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Principal Licensure from the University of Northern Colorado.
  • Principal License from St. Cloud State University.
